Born as Samuel Beauman Hilliard on 21 February 1994, he is 27 years of age. He is one of the three children of parents Jim Hilliard and Tamara Hilliard.
His father Jim served as an Orthopedic Surgeon in Arlington, Texas for over three decades. Moreover, he earned his doctorate degree at The University of Texas at Galveston Medical Branch. There, he played college football on full scholarship.
Likewise, his mother Tamara is the 1984 Miss Texas in title winner and became 4th runner-up in the Miss America Pageant in the same year.
The player has two elder brothers named Blake Hilliard and Max Hilliard. He grew up with his family in Mansfield, Texas, United States.

Hilliard played freshman season at Navarro College and then transferred to Crowder College. The Minnesota Twins drafted him in the 31st round of the 2014 MLB draft, but he did not sign and attended Wichita State University.
His Journey To MLB
After spending a year at Wichita State, Sam was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 15th round of the 2015 MLB draft.
Following that, he signed a contract with the Rockies and began his professional career with the Grand Junction Rockies. He spent the 2016 season with the Asheville Tourists and played with the Lancaster JetHawks in 2017.
Likewise, Hilliard played with the Hartford Yard Goats until the end of the 2018 season and went to the Arizona Fall League. He began the year 2019 with the Albuquerque Isotopes in the minor league.
On 27 August 2019, the Rockies promoted him to the major leagues and made his MLB debut that night against the Boston Red Sox.
