Rowan Alexander Barrett Jr. was born on 14 June 2000 in Toronto, Canada that makes him 20 years of age. Barrett spent his early age in a number of countries due to his father’s career. Earlier, he lived in France and later his family settled in Mississauga, Ontario after his father’s retirement from basketball in 2008. He attended Horizon Jeunesse in Clarkson, Mississauga, and later went to École Secondaire Jeunes Sans Frontières, a French-language school in Brampton. He stands at a height of 6 feet 6 inches (1.98 meters) and has a bodyweight of 214 lbs (97 kg).

RJ began his high school at St. Marcellinus Secondary School in Mississauga, where he rose to prominence from basketball. In 2015, he left St. Marcellinus to join Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida.

Barrett received scholarship offers from numerous universities such as Arizona, Duke, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, UCLA, and USC. He chose Duke University to began his collegiate football for the 2018-2019 season. At the end of the regular season, he was named a member of both the Sporting News’ All-American First Team, ACC All-Freshman team, and the All-ACC First Team alongside his teammate Zion Williamson.

His NBA Career; New York Knicks

RJ was drafted by the New York Knicks with the third pick in the 2019 NBA draft on 20 June 2019. Playing as both a shooting guard and small forward, he wears the jersey number #9.

Barrett made his NBA debut with the Knicks in a 111–120 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on 23 October 2019. There, he made 21 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals.

On the international level, he represents the Canada men’s national basketball team. He made his senior debut on 22 June 2018, scoring 16 points in a 97-62 win over China. He was the youngest player on Canada’s under-16 national team that won silver at the 2015 FIBA Americas U16 Championship in Argentina.
