In 2020, Ronnie O’Sullivan won his sixth World Championship. He is in the third World Rankings also the nominee of the 2020 Sports Personality of the Year. 

English professional snooker Ronnie O’Sullivan from Essex is a six-time world champion, a record seven-time Masters champion, and a record seven-time UK champion. The 45-year-old is one of the most successful players in the history of snooker’s Triple Crown Series to secure 20 titles.

The Snooker player was born as Ronald Antonio O’Sullivan on 5 December 1975 in Wordsley, West Midlands.

His parents, Ronald John and Maria (née Catalano) O’Sullivan was the owner of a string of sex shops in the Soho area of London. 

Ronnie is also the first cousin of snooker player, Maria Catalano and while his mother served a jail term, Ronald had to look for his eight-year-old sister, Danielle. He is 5 feet 10 inches (1.78 m) tall in height and weighs around 75 kg.

On 18 April 1993, he got the fortune to be a part of the World Championship to commence a professional season, debuting for Crucible.

In the same year, Ronnie also got his first ranking winning the 1993 UK Championship. In 2001, he reached his first world final to defeat John Higgins by 18–14 to claim his first world title.

Until now, he has over £11.7 million of career prize money earned by any player in snooker history.

In fact, he has won five World Championships in 2001, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2013, and 2020. During the 2020 World Snooker Championship, he beat Mark Selby in the semifinal by 17-16 and Kyren Wilson by 19-8 in the finals.

As of 13 December 2020, Ronnie’s current world rankings is third. Likewise, he holds the all-time record for the most ranking titles in professional snooker, with 37.

He became the first world ranking for a year between May 2002 until May 2003. A year later, he was again able to secure the first world ranking from May 2004 for two years followed by May 2008 to May 2010 and from March to August 2019. 

The player uses a John Parris Ultimate cue. It means an item of sporting equipment essential and Ronnie’s cue is of John Parris Traditional design.

The cue is measured 58 inches long with 18.2 oz weight and a 16-inch balance point. He also holds the highest break of 147 which means a maximum break in the sports in a single frame.

The World Champion’s first partner’s name is Sally Magnus to whom he shares a child, Taylor-Ann Magnus, born in 1996.
