Ty got the fortune to be part of the 2012 MLB Draft with The San Francisco Giants selection. He and the team signed a rookie contract but his professional debut came in 2013 for the San Jose Giants.
On 1 October 2016, in his second MLB start, he made 8 shutout innings against Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers. He is also the former winning pitcher in Game 3 of the 2016 NLDS against the Chicago Cubs post pitching two scoreless innings in relief.
