The player was born as Louis Linwood Voit III on 13 February 1991 in Wildwood, Missouri. His parents, Lou and Janice Volt raised him along with a younger brother, John; a defensive tackle for the Army Black Knights football team. Luke went to Lafayette High School in Wildwood, Missouri. From then, he attended Missouri State University to play college baseball team, Missouri State Bears.

Career, Contract & Salary

The 28-year-old got the fortune to play for the St. Louis Cardinals after they selected him in the 22nd round of the 2013 MLB Draft. In his debut season, his stats were batting .242 with two home runs and 16 runs batted in (RBIs) in 46 games played. Three years later, the team promoted him to the major leagues on 25 June 2017.

However, the Cardinals traded him to Yankees on 27 July 2018. As a part of a year contract, he received a guaranteed salary of $573,200. Similarly in the 2019 season also, Luke’s salary is also the same, i.e., $573,200.
