American professional baseball pitcher, Jon Lester plays for MLB club Chicago Cubs. The three-time world series champion in 2007, 2013 and 2016 played for two MLB clubs before.

The player was born as Jonathan Tyler Lester on 7 January 1984, in Tacoma, Washington. Later his parents, John and Kathie Lester raised him in Puyallup, Washington. He went to Bellarmine Preparatory School in Tacoma, Washington.

Career, Stats & Net Worth

Right after his school, Jon got the fortune to be in the 2002 MLB draft. The Red Sox selected him in the second round, with the 57th overall selection with a signing bonus of $1 million. He had also agreed on a five-year, $30 million contract extension on 8 March 2009 including $14 million team option in 2014. Twelve years later, he was traded to Oakland Athletics on 31 July 2014.

However, in late 2014, the Cubs signed him on a six-year deal worth $155 million deal also the option for a seventh year at $15 million.

As if for now, he makes an average salary of $25.8 million with a 2021 option that will incline his paycheck to $170 million. Jon’s yearly income is $30.4 million and around $400,000 coming from sports brands, including Nike. As if for now, his net worth is $50 million.

A Cancer-Free Warrior

Back on 31 August 2006, he was diagnosed with enlarged lymph nodes. Sometime later, the Massachusetts General Hospital team reported that his illness is the form of anaplastic large cell lymphoma. From then, he had many off-season chemotherapy treatments at Seattle’s Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. However, in late 2006, his CT Scan showed no signs of the disease and went on a complete remission.

A year later, his lymphoma treatment became successful in 2007 and was able to play for the Sox.

During his rehabilitation phase from cancer, he met a nursing student in South Carolina named Farrah Stone Johnson. The couple started dating since 2007 and two years later went to exchange wedding vows on 9 January 2009. Together they share two sons, Hudson, and Walker born in 2010 and 2013 respectively.

Likewise, the family became five upon the arrival of a daughter named Cy Elizabeth born on 29 November 2016.
