Rem is the eldest son of parents Lance Pitlick and Lisa Pitlick. His father Lance is a former ice hockey player who has played for the NHL teams Ottawa Senators and Florida Panthers. After his retirement, he a business called Sweet Hockey to help young players work on their skills.
Likewise, his mother Lisa is a former gymnast at the University of Minnesota. She was a two-time Big Ten champion gymnast for the Gophers and even competed on Team USA’s gymnastics team.

After his junior career, he committed to play collegiate hockey at the University of Minnesota. He played for the Golden Gophers for three seasons. He recorded 108 points (47 goals, 61 assists) in 112 career games with the Gophers.
Pitlick was drafted by the Nashville Predators 76th overall in the third round of the 2016 NHL Draft. He penned a two-year entry-level contract with the Predators on 22 March 2019.
Subsequently, he made his NHL debut against the Minnesota Wild on 25 March 2019. He was claimed off waivers by the Minnesota Wild on 6 October 2021.
