Benetti attended Homewood-Flossmoor High School and graduated at age 18 in 2001. He then went to Syracuse University and graduated with bachelor’s degrees in broadcast journalism, economics, and psychology in 2005.

What Happened To Jason Benetti?

Jason Benetti was born 10 weeks prematurely at the University of Chicago Hospital. He was hospitalized for three months and during that time, he had a respiratory illness.

Moreover, he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy as a toddler. He underwent different surgeries including eye surgery, heel cord surgery, and hamstring surgery to improve his ability to walk

Benetti is now involved with the Cerebral Palsy Foundation, dedicated to transforming lives for people with cerebral palsy.

His Career At ESPN; How Much Is His Net Worth?

Earlier, he worked as an intern for Chicago’s sports radio station WSCR (670 AM). He had broadcasting jobs with Fox Sports 1, Time Warner Cable Sports, BIG EAST Conference, High Point University, IMG College, Salem Avalanche, and DePaul University.

In 2011, he joined ESPN as a play-by-play commentator for college basketball. Afterward, he called college football, baseball, and lacrosse games, high school football, and Major League Baseball.


He also serves as the play-by-play commentator for ESPN’s MLB Statcast AI coverage of the Wild Card and Home Run Derby. Back in November 2023, Benetti was named as the principal play-by-play announcer for Detroit Tigers telecasts on Bally Sports Detroit.
