American baseball player Emmet Sheehan now plays professionally for the Major League Baseball team, the Los Angeles Dodgers. Prior to that, he played collegiate baseball at Boston College for three seasons.

Emmet Sheehan Early Life & Family: Meet His Parents

Sheehan was born George Emmet Sheehan on 15 November 1999 in New York City. His father is George Sheehan and his mother is Maureen Sheehan.

George was a dentist by profession based in New York. However, he did not meet his father in his entire life as he died before his birth on 3 July 1999.

The athlete was raised by his mother Maureen, who is an executive director at a non-profit organization named Brothers Brook Foundation in Stamford, Connecticut. Additionally, she is a graduate of Georgetown University with a degree in Finance & International Management.

Despite being born in New York, he spent his early life in Darien, Connecticut until age five. His mother played a leading role in his career as she was also an athlete who played college volleyball at Georgetown. He used to play catch with his mother as a part of training.

His Journey To The Major League Baseball

Sheehan has been playing baseball since his high school years. Moreover, he played collegiately at Boston College for three seasons.

There, he also pitched collegiate summer baseball in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League for the Bristol Blues (2018) and New Britain Bees (2020). He also played in the New England Collegiate Baseball League for the Danbury Westerners in 2019.

Emmet was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the sixth round (192nd overall) of the 2021 Major League Baseball draft. Afterward, he signed with the team and was assigned to the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League Dodgers to begin his professional career.

Eventually, he was promoted to the Low-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes and then to the High-A Great Lakes Loons in 2021. He returned to Great Lakes to start the 2022 season and later played with the Double-A Tulsa Drillers.

Sheehan played with Tulsa at the start of the 2023 season before receiving a call-up to the majors by the Dodgers. On 16 June 2023, he made his MLB debut for the Dodgers against the San Francisco Giants where he pitched six scoreless no-hit innings while allowing two walks and striking out three.
