Initially, he joined Guinea-Bissau national team in honor of his father. Subsequently, he switched to Senegal and later became the first choice keeper for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

His Career Journey

Edouard began his career with the French third-tier team AS Cherbourg. He played for Cherbourg until the summer of 2014 and remained without a club for a year.

In 2015, he joined Marseille as their fourth-choice goalkeeper. Afterward, he moved to Reims during the 2016–17 Ligue 2 season.

Mendy joined League 1 side Rennes in August 2019. He made his debut on Matchday 3 against Strasbourg on 25 August.

Following the season, Chelsea signed him on a five-year contract for a fee reported to be £22 million in September 2020. He made his Premier League debut on 3rd October, keeping a clean sheet in Chelsea’s 4–0 victory over Crystal Palace.

Mendy helped Chelsea defeating Manchester City 1–0 in the UEFA Champions League final on 29 May 2021.
