Donald Cerrone began training with the MMA fighters at Greg Jackson’s Submission Fighting Gaidojutsu School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He later signed to fight in the World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC). Donald was robbed of his first victory after tested positive hydrochlorothiazide, a banned diuretic.

Donald made his move in UFC alongside other WEC fighters as part of the merger in October 2010. He had a major impact with a tap out a victory over Paul Kelly on 5 February 2011 at UFC 126. The enthralling fight earned both the payers a Fight of the Night honors.
