Kawhi Leonard is some eight years old in the professional basketball field. Amidst this significant period of time, the Toronto Raptors’ player has already registered an NBA championship to his name with his former club, San Antonio Spurs.

Kawhi Leonard’s Bio & Family Life

Kawhi Leonard, age 27, was born as Kawhi Anthony Leonard on 29 June 1991 in Los Angeles, California. He was raised and nurtured as the youngest child by his parents, Mark Leonard and Kim Robertson. Kawhi’s family gets complete with his four elder sisters.

The Leonard family faced a huge setback on 18 January 2008 as Kawhi’s father, Mark, was killed by a gunshot at the Compton car wash which he owned. The investigation for the inhuman crime went for a long time; however, the authorities were unable to track down the guilty party.

The basketball star stands at a tall height of 6 feet and 7 inches (2.01 m) and weighs around 230 lb (104 kg). He is the attendee of Canyon Springs High School, Moreno Valley, California. Kawhi later moved to Martin Luther King High School before enrolling at San Diego State University.

Career Stats

Following a promising college record, Kawhi Leonard entered the NBA field as the 15th overall pick of the Indiana Packer in the 2011 NBA draft. However, he was traded to the San Antonio Spurs in the same night.

Later on 26 October 2012, the Spurs exercised the team option on Kawhi, re-signing him through the 2013-14 season. It was on 6 April 2014 when the promising player recorded a season-high 26 points in his side’s 112-92 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. The same year, Kawhi had his hands on the NBA trophy which he shared with his Spurs teammates.

During the month of June in 2018, the reports surfaced on the internet claiming Kawhi requested to be traded from the Spurs team. A month later on 18 July, he completed his move to Toronto Raptors. Kawhi recorded his season-high 37 points for Raptors in a 126-110 win over the Cavaliers on 21 December 2018. Recently in Game 4 of the playoff against the 76ers, he registered 39 points and 14 rebounds to seal a series-leveler 101-96 win.

Contract, Salary

Kawhi signed his first career contract with the Spurs on 10 December 2011. Later on 16 July 2015, he re-signed with the Spurs to a five-year $90 Million-worth deal.

There is still a year left for Kawhi’s contract with his former team to expire. Meantime, the Raptors’ player profits $18,868,625 as an average salary.
