Collin Morikawa has made much of his career achievements at his early age. On his personal side, the young talent currently datiing a girlfriend, who is also a golfer.

Collin Morikawa is an American professional golfer, who won his first major championship title, the 2020 PGA Championship on 9 August 2020. He is the third-youngest winner of the PGA Championship in the stroke-play era, as well as the fourth winner of the PGA Championship at age 23.

Collin was born on 6 February 1997 in Los Angeles, California, the United States that makes him 24 years of age. He is the eldest son of Blaine Morikawa and Debbie Morikawa.

Morikawa is Japanese-American by ethnicity as his parents are of Japanese descent. His parents were supportive and often credit them for being his biggest support system.

He graduated from La Cañada High School in La Cañada Flintridge, California. Afterward, he attended the Haas Business School at the University of California, Berkeley, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2019.

He stands at a height of 5 feet 9 inches (1.75 meters) tall and has maintained a bodyweight of around 170 lbs (77 kg).

His Career Achievements

Collin played colligate golf at the University of California, Berkeley for four seasons until 2019. There, he had the stats of 48 stroke-play events, 149 rounds, 10398 strokes, 69.78 stroke average.

Morikawa made his debut as a professional at the 2019 RBC Canadian Open, finishing in 14th place. Moreover, he won his first PGA Tour event at the Barracuda Championship – beating Troy Merritt by three strokes in July 2019.

On 12 July 2020, he beat Justin Thomas in a playoff to win his second PGA Tour title at the Workday Charity Open. Meanwhile, he won the 2020 PGA Championship for his first major championship title on 9 August 2020.

His final round of 64 tied the lowest final-round score shot by a PGA Champion. With his win, he became the third-youngest golfer to win the PGA Championship, which he won at age 23.

Likewise, he has been able to secure the 2021 WGC-Workday Championship at the Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida on 28 February 2021. During the game, he was able to win it by three strokes over Brooks Koepka, Billy Horschel, and Viktor Hovland.

Few months apart and one of his recent wins has been the Open Championship at Royal St George’s Golf Club in Kent, England on 18 July 2021. He won by two strokes over Jordan Spieth also becoming the first player since Bobby Jones in 1926 towards winning two majors in eight or fewer starts. Likewise, he also became the first player to win two different giant events in his debut performances.

The golf-prodigy believes that there is no wow factor to being on tour. More than believing in the wow factor, he works intensively hard on the training grounds since he also thought he was going to be in his career and pushing the limit, more ahead of him.

However, the low and dedication towards the game are unconditional and selfless to Collin which makes him strive even more to improve. He also feels being the OMEGA ambassador at the PGA Championship instill extra pride for him to reap the brand value at any racing tracks and events. One of the best parts of the golfer is his confidence.

He measures consistency from wanting to win every week and regardless of an event to be PGA or others, the focus is intact and consistent.

Dating Life; Meet His Girlfriend

The 23-year-old is currently dating a lady named Katherine Zhu. His girlfriend Katherine was a division one golfer at Pepperdine University who earned all-academic honors. The duo started dating in 2017 and celebrated their 3 years of togetherness in April 2020.

Standing at a height of 5 feet 6 inches, Katherine won her first amateur tournament at the age of 13. She is now majoring in international management at Pepperdine University.

Both Collin and his girlfriend Katherine do not feel bashful about demonstrating their romance on their social media.  He is now balancing both his career and dating life with his supportive girlfriend so far.
