Wilmot Reed Hastings Jr. on 8 October 1960 to a middle-class family in Boston, Massachusetts. He is one of the three children of Wilmot Reed Hastings and Joan Amory Loomis. His father served as an attorney for the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare.
