His Tennis Career
Ellis had a remarkable junior career, winning the 2016 Australian Open boys’ doubles alongside fellow Australian partner Alex De Minaur. He had a career-best ITF Junior Ranking of no. 23, achieved on 17 July 2017.
After turning professional in 2014, he made his senior debut at the Australia F7 in October 2014 where he lost in the first round. Likewise, he won his first Challenger match in the Canberra International by defeating Austrian Lucas Mielder.
Blake had his best Challenger-level performance to date at the 2018 Shimadzu All Japan Indoor Tennis Championships. There, he won his qualifying matches and then defeated two previous tournament champions 5th seed Tatsuma Ito and 3rd seed Go Soeda. However, he lost in the semifinal to fellow Australian and eventual champion John Millman.
