After bidding farewell from NBC News with 25 years-long stint in 2015, Ann Curry is still huffing and puffing to deliver unbiased media opinions in a lot of factors. The photojournalist has been a reporter for more than three decades now.

The eldest of five children, Ann Curry, a 63-years-of-age American journalist was born on 19 November 1956, in  Agaña, Guam, the United States. Her late father, Robert Paul “Bob” Curry, was an American Navy sailor, while her mother, Hiroe Nagase, is from Japan. Her parents met where her father served as a streetcar conductor during the United States occupation of Japan following World War II.

Although Robert was transferred out of Japan, he returned two years later to marry Hiroe. Ann was conceived later in the United States and she welcomed four other younger siblings afterward.

While living in Japan for several years as a child, Ann attended the Ernest J. King School on the United States Fleet Activities Sasebo naval base in Sasebo, Nagaski. Eventually, she moved to Ashland, Oregon and graduated from Ashland High School. Taking her education further, Ann graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from the University of Oregon in 1978.

Her Media Career: NBC News, Today Show

Right after her graduation, Ann began her broadcasting career as an intern at the CBS-affiliate KTVL in Medford, Oregon, in 1978. She later switched between KGW and KCBS-TV, before joining the NBC News as the NBC News Chicago correspondent in 1990.

Firstly, she anchored NBC News at Sunrise from 1991 to 1996 and later served as a substitute news anchor for Matt Lauer at Today from 1994 to 1997.  She became the co-anchor of the Today Show from 9 June 2011 to 28 June 2012. Besides, Ann was the primary substitute on NBC Nightly News from 2005 to 2011.

After her departure from Today on 28 June 2012, she produced content and reported for NBC Nightly News, Dateline NBC, and MSNBC. She officially announced her departure from NBC News in January 2015. Since, she has been involved in numerous reporting works and as of now hosts TNT/TBS’s Chasing the Cure, starting from August 2019.
