American TV personality Derek Van Dam works as the meteorologist with CNN. Some of his breaking news coverage includes the Nepal Earthquake on 29 April 2015 and AirAsia flight #QZ8501 disaster on 28 December 2014.

The TV personality was born on 7 October 1983 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He worked as Chief Meteorologist for all platforms, including presenting weather & science bulletins on e.TV Primetime (7 pm) and eNCA during Newsnight (4 pm-12 pm SAST). Just two months after his eNCA exit, Derek’s more significant career aspiration of joining CNN came true.

Derek joined the CNN network in September 2015, and it’s been five years and eight; he works as a meteorologist. Apart from that, he also has the role of an on-air anchor with CNN International & HLN (Headline News).

Apart from his professional engagement with CNN, he cherishes his marital life. His wife’s name is Tara, and she likes to surf, run, and mostly loves to be called by the name Yogi. The couple first welcomed a baby daughter named Maya Sophia on 1 March 2017. It was right at 6:22 PM; Tara gave birth to their first child. Later the family extended to four upon the arrival of son Logan Malloy on 31 July 2018.
