Tucker Swanson McNear Carlson was born on 16 May 1969 to parents Richard Warner Carlson and Lisa McNear. His father was a journalist and was U.S. ambassador to Seychelles. Carlson’s mother left the family when he was six years old. Eventually, he grew up with his younger brother, Buckley Swanson Peck Carlson in La Jolla, California.

Standing at the height of 6 feet 1 inch (1.85 meters), he attended St. George’s School. Later, he went to Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut and graduated with a BA in history at the age of 23.

Tucker began his professional venture as a fact-checker for a national conservative journal, Policy Review. He joined the CNN in 2000 and began to co-host the show, The Spin Room. Later, he became the co-host of the nightly current events debate program, Crossfire.

After working for five years, Carlson left CNN and moved to MSNBC in 2005. There, he anchored The Situation With Tucker Carlson, an early evening show on the network. However, the show was canceled due to low ratings in 2008.

In 2009, he joined Fox News Channel as a contributor. Moreover, he co-hosted the weekend editions of Fox & Friends, a daily morning conservative news/talk program on Fox News. As of 2019, he has been appearing as a host of Tucker Carlson Tonight, a talk program on the network. It is one of the highest rated shows and is also popular among YouTube viewers.
