Trent Jordan Watt was born on 11 October 1994 to parents John Watt and Connie Watt. He has two brothers; J.J. Watt and Derek Watt, who both are NFL players.

Watt pursued his education at Pewaukee High School at his hometown, Pewaukee, Wisconsin. After, he went to the University of Wisconsin to begin his college football career. He stands at a height of 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 meters) and weighs 252 lbs (114 kg).

Trent started to play college football in 2015, after recovering from injury. In his final season in 2016, he recorded 59 total tackles and 11.5 sacks. Watt was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round (30th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. He made his NFL debut in the Steelers’ season-opener against the Cleveland Browns on 10 September 2017.
