David Lee “Trey” Quinn III was born on 7 December 1995 to parents Dave Quinn and Angie Quinn. He grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana along with older sister Kaylin and his younger brother Carter Quinn, who plays baseball at South Alabama.

Quinn pursued his primary education from Barbe High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He later went to college football at Louisiana State University and in Southern Methodist University. He stands at a height of 6 feet (1.83 meters) and weighs 200 lbs (91 kg).

Trey started to play college football from LSU in 2014. He played in 13 games for the Tigers and then transferred to Southern Methodist University (SMU) before the 2016 season. He played in all 13 games for SMU with the stats of catching 114 passes for 1,236 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Quinn was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the 7th round (256th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft. But he suffered a high-ankle injury during the first game of the season. He was placed on injured reserve until November 2018 and re-injured his ankle in December 2018.
