In 2010, he won the USBA Featherweight Championship by beating the veteran Tomas Villa by T.K.O. in the first round. He won the WBO and Ring magazine featherweight titles in 2013 and was named the WBO junior lightweight champion from 2013 to 2014. Similarly, he lifted the IBF junior welterweight title from March to April 2018, and the recent was the IBF lightweight title from July to October 2018.
