The player was born as Alexander Douglas Smith on 7 May 1984 in Bremerton, Washington, to parents, Douglas D. Smith and Pam Smith. His father, Douglas D. Smith, was an executive director at Helix High School, which Alex attended. Apart from his parents, he has a brother, Josh, and two sisters, Abbey and MacKenzie.

After Helix, he went to the University of Utah and played for the Utah Utes, wearing number 11. Likewise, he also earned a bachelor’s degree in economics in two years with a 3.74 GPA, having matriculated with 64 credit hours. The 35-year-old has a net worth of $55 million from professional NFL since 2005. After the 2005 draft selection, he and San Francisco 49ers signed a six years contract worth $49.5 million, which also included $24 million as guaranteed money. After eight long seasons, the Kansas City Chief signed him on a trade deal with 49ers on 27 February 2013. Four years later, he went to the Washington Redskins on 30 January 2018.

Alex and Redskins signed a mammoth four years deal worth $94 million. He suffered a compound and spiral fracture to his tibia and fibula in his right leg when he was sacked by Kareem Jackson and J. J. Watt on 18 November 2018. The star is not being able to play the 2019 season as he is still recovering from the 17 surgeries.

Alex Wife Supports His Recovery

The player and his wife Elizabeth Smith had their first dinner date at a St. Patrick’s Day Festival in San Jose, California. Elizabeth is a former cheerleader of Raiders, and after knowing her for some time, they got engaged in 2007. Two years later, they went to exchange their wedding vows in 2009 at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco.
