Ryan was born Ryan Burtle Gerard on 2 August 1999 to parents Robert Gerard and Judy Gerard. He grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States.
Standing at a height of 6 feet 2 inches, he has a golf background from his family. His father was a golfer who played collegiately at Florida Atlantic University. He was introduced to golf by his parents when he was two years old.
After graduating from Ravenscroft High School, he went to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After playing collegiate golf there, he graduated in 2022.

His Journey As A Professional Golfer
Gerard was a four-time all-state selection and was named conference player of the year at high school. He reached a semifinal at the 2018 North & South Amateur and also played in the 2021 U.S. Amateur at Oakmont.
Collegiately, he played at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for five seasons. He earned All-America honors twice in 2020 and 2022 and was a three-time PING All-East Region honoree (2019, 2020, and 2022). Furthermore, he played in the 2018, 2019, and 2021 NCAA Championships.
In 2022, he turned professional and began to play in the PGA TOUR Canada and Korn Ferry Tour.
Ryan and Nicolai Hojgaard joined the 2022-23 PGA Tour Season after accepting the Special Temporary Membership. They also crossed the threshold for membership in the 2023 Valero Texas Open. He has played 23 events in the PGA Tour so far.
