Ryan was born to parents Derek Feltner and Laura Feltner on 2 September 1996. His full name is Ryan Donald Feltner.

Feltner is the oldest son of his parents and has a younger brother named Riley Feltner. Riley played college baseball at Kent State University from 2019 to 2021. He grew up with his parents and brother in Orlando, Florida.

Ryan played college baseball at Ohio State University. He was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 25th round of the 2015 Major League Baseball draft but did not sign and continued his college baseball.
Besides, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Brewster Whitecaps of the Cape Cod Baseball League and the Bourne Braves. He was drafted by the Rockies in the fourth round of the 2018 MLB draft.
After signing with the Rockies, Feltner began his professional career with the Grand Junction Rockies in the MLB Partner League and later played for the minor league team Asheville Tourists. Moreover, he played with the Spokane Indians and was later promoted to the Hartford Yard Goats.
On September 5, 2021, he was promoted to the major leagues for the first time. On the same day, he made his MLB debut for the Rockies against the Atlanta Braves.
