On 6th June 2019, Granger Smith shared the tragic news of losing one of his son through his social sites. The award-winning singer lost his youngest on from an accident in home.

Country music singer Granger Smith and his wife Amber Bartlett have lost their youngest son, River Kelly Smith!

Granger’s three-year-old son River Kelly Smith died in a tragic drowning accident at home. The 39-year-old shared the “unthinkable” news on Twitter and Instagram on 6 June 2019.

With the picture of holding his beloved son on his hand, the singer wrote the heart-melting caption for his late son River.

I have to deliver unthinkable news. We’ve lost our youngest son, River Kelly Smith. Following a tragic accident, and despite doctor’s best efforts, he was unable to be revived. Amber and I made the decision to say our last goodbyes and donate his organs so that other children will be given a second chance at life.

Our family is devastated and heartbroken, but we take solace in knowing he is with his Heavenly Father. Riv was special. Everyone that met him knew that immediately. The joy he brought to our lives cannot be expressed and his light will be forever in our hearts. If there are words to say more, I cannot find them in this moment. Love the ones close to you. There has never been a more difficult moment for us than this.

In the end, Smith requested to send donations to Dell Children’s Medical Center in River’s name, instead of flowers or gifts.  Moreover, he thanked the doctors, nurses, and staff for their efforts.

Following the death news, various celebrities have sent their condolences to the Smith family. The list includes Kane Brown, Maren Morris, Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean and more.

River was born on 16 May 2016 as a third child of Granger and his wife Amber. He was accompanied by two siblings; a seven-year-old sister London and a five-year-old brother Lincoln. His parents got married on 11 February 2010 after meeting on the set of a music video.

Who Is Granger Smith?

Granger Kelly Smith (born on 4 September 1979) is an American country music singer and songwriter. Since his early age, Smith was interested in music and decided to pursue it as a hobby.

At the age of 19, he released his debut album, Waiting on Forever, during his freshman year at Texas A&M. His 2013 album, Dirt Road Driveway reached number 15 on US country charts and number 11 on US indie charts. Recently, Granger released his single, “They Were There” from his soundtrack album, They Were There on 7 December 2018.
