The legendary basketball point guard of the San Antonio Spurs, Tony Parker decides to hang up his playing boots after a dominant professional career. Tony bagged four NBA championships with the Spurs side over the course of 17 years.

Speaking to the ESPN’s The Undefeated, Tony Parker announced his retirement from the basketball fraternity on Monday, 10 June 2019. He also publicized the decision via his Twitter handle on the same day.

The 37-year-old Belgian athlete played for the Charlotte Hornets in the last bit of his career. He is primarily known for his glorifying 17-seasons-long stint with the San Antonio Spurs.

Tony joined the San Antonio Spurs as the 28th overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft. Prior to that, he played for two years for Paris Basket Racing of the French Basketball League from 1999 to 2001.

Besides the promising stats of .492 field-goal percentage and .326 3-point field-goal percentage from 1198 games, Tony won four NBA titles (2003, 2005, 2007, and 2014) with the Spurs. His other major career highlights include six NBA All-Star games, three All-NBA Second Teams, and NBA Finals MVP.

Following his career at the Spurs, Tony also became a team owner and president of the French basketball team, ASVEL in 2014.
