Mexican Telenovelas Icon Edith González Dies At Age 54!

The 54-year-old Mexican actress, Edith González passed away on 13 June 2019 after a failed battle to ovarian cancer. Edith was diagnosed with severe disease back in 2016.

Edith González’s death was confirmed by the official Mexican news agency Notimex and the TV stations, Televisa and TV Azteca. Besides, the National Association of Actors of Mexico also passed the sad news via their Twitter account.

Edith commenced her career in acting as a child actor during the late 1970s and appeared in dozens of telenovelas, films and theater productions in Mexico for over four decades.

She is well-known for her lead roles on different telenovelas including Si, mi amor (1984), Bianca Vidal (1985), En came propia (1990), Corazón Salvaje (1993), Salomé (2001), and Las Bravo (2014-2015).  

In the meantime, Edith was also the first actress to take the lead in the musical Aventurera, which is one of the longest-running shows in Mexico. Besides the acting master class, she also flashed her career as a terrific dancer and singer.

Edith revealed in August 2016 that the doctors discovered dangerous cancerous tissue in her abdomen. After the revelation, she regularly mentioned about her treatments and the subsequent hair loss on media platforms. Her cancer entered remission in 2017; however, it came back again to haunt her.

The iconic actress regularly shared encouraging messages on social platforms and took speaking engagements to address cancer prevention. Unfortunately, her battle for survival ended on Thursday, 13 June 2019.

Edith had her husband, Lorenzo Lazo, and a 14-year-old daughter, Constanza around when she shut her eyes for one last time.

The 54-years-of-age actress was born as Edith González Fuentes on 10 December 1964. She was born and raised in her hometown of Monterrey, Nuevo  León, Mexico.

Edith González worked for some of the Spanish-language television networks including Televisa, Telemundo, and TV Azteca. While at Televisa, she landed some of the most important roles in Mexican telenovelas. Before her sad demise, she served as a judge of the Mexican reality show, This Is My Style.

Speaking about her married life, she shared the wedding vows with her husband, Lorenzo Lazo in 2010. Before that, she was in a relationship with a Mexican senator, Santiago Creel, with whom she had a daughter named Constanza (born on 17 August 2004).
