Christopher W. Wallace was born on 12 October 1947 to parents Mike Wallace and Norma Kaphan. His father was a longtime CBS reporter. After his parents divorced, he grew up with his mother and stepfather Bill Leonard in Chicago, Illinois.

Standing at the height of ‎5 feet 10 inches (1.78 meters), Wallace attended Hotchkiss School. Later, he earned graduation from Harvard College.
