Amy Joanne Robach was born on 6 February 1963 in St. Joseph, Michigan. She spent her childhood in East Lansing, Michigan and later her family moved to St. Louis, Missouri.

Standing at the height of 5 feet 5 inches (1.65 meters), Robach attended Brookwood High School in Snellville, Georgia. Afterward, she went to the University of Georgia and graduated with high honors in broadcast journalism.

After the divorce, she met at Andrew Shue at the book launch party and started dating. They got engaged in September 2009. The couple exchanged the wedding vows on 6 February 2010, marking the occasion of Andrew’s 36th birthday. Her husband Andrew is an American actor, known for his role as Billy Campbell on the primetime soap opera Melrose Place (1992–1999).
