Alison Starling again reconnected with her future husband in 2010 after the eight years of their first meet. The journalist couple now parents two kids from their marital relationship.

Alison Starling is an award-winning American journalist currently working for the ABC-affiliated WJLA-TV. She currently anchors the 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. newscasts on the network.

Alison Loll Starling was born on 28 October 1973 in Orlando, Florida to a military family. She is the daughter of Bruce Starling and Dolores Starling. Her father served as a Navy chaplain in the U.S. Army and also worked for the Office of the United States Trade Representative. Meanwhile, her grandfather retired as Colonel in the U.S. Army.

Because of her father’s job, Starling spent most of her childhood in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. She earned her graduation from the University of Florida at the age of 22 in 1995. Afterward, she received a Cultural Ambassadorial Scholarship from Rotary International to study in Tours, France for six months.

Career; WJLA, Awards

Alison began her career as a reporter and anchor at the CBS-affiliated WDEF-TV in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She then worked as a reporter and anchor for another CBS-affiliated KIRO-TV in Seattle for three years. There, she covered numerous breaking stories such as the Seattle Earthquake and the Tacoma connection to the D.C.-area sniper case.

In 2003, Starling joined the ABC-affiliated WJLA-TV and started covering major local and national news stories. She then became a co-anchor of the morning program, Good Morning Washington and ABC7 News at Noon.

Alison is the recipient of multiple Emmy Awards. Firstly, she won Emmy for the Best Anchor in 2011 and for Continuing Coverage for the 2011 Earthquake in 2012. Again, she won in 2013 for her role in the ABC7 special on Pope Francis, in 2015 for Continuing Coverage of the Baltimore Riots, and in 2018 for Continuing Coverage of the Capital Gazette Shooting.

The anchor is currently married to Emmy award-winning journalist Peter Alexander. Peter, 43 is a national correspondent for NBC News. He appears on various NBC News platforms, including NBC Nightly News, Today, Meet the Press, Dateline NBC, MSNBC, and NBCNews.com.

They exchanged the wedding vows on 21 April 2012 at Newseum, a museum in Washington, D.C. The prominent journalist names such as Leon Harris, Tim Brant, Craig Melvin, and Lindsay Czarniak were the attendees of the ceremony.

The couple first met in 2001 while they were young journalists working in Seattle. Later, they reconnected in 2010 and started dating. On 30 July 2011, Peter proposed her beneath the Eiffel Tower in France.

Alison and Peter are now the parents of two daughters. Their first daughter, Ava Starling Alexander was born on 23 July 2013. Later, they welcomed their second daughter named Emma Pink Alexander on 16 June 2015.
