Dianne Gallagher met her future husband while both were working as a reporter. Now the couple have been relishing their married life for more than three years.

Dianne Gallagher is an American journalist, who serves as a CNN National Correspondent based in Atlanta. Previously, she served as a National Security Correspondent based in Washington, D.C.

Dianne Gallagher Parents, Family

Dianne was born on 12 April in the late 1980s to the military family. She is the eldest of three children of Keith Gallagher and Sandra M Gallagher. Her father Keith is retired military personnel, who served as a US Army General. He was named as the administrator and CEO of Memorial Hospital Pembroke in Pembroke Pines, Florida in March 2013.

She has two siblings; a brother named Keith W. Gallagher and a sister Susan Gallagher. Her brother Keith is a Senior Airman in the United States Air Force. Similarly, her younger sister Susan is a makeup artist. She spent her childhood, moving from country to country because of her father’s work. Gallagher graduated from the University of North Carolina Charlotte and the University of Tennessee.

Career; CNN, WCNC-TV

Dianne began her journalism career as an anchor and reporter at CN2 News (WCBL) in Rock Hill, South Carolina. There she worked for two years until 2011. Afterward, she joined the NBC-affiliated WCNC-TV and worked as a lead reporter and morning anchor.

At WCNC, she covered the 2012 Democratic National Convention and the 2012 presidential election. In 2015, Gallagher joined CNN and started to work as the National Security Correspondent based in Washington, D.C. In 2018, she became one of the few reporters to gain access to government detention facilities where families were held after being separated at the U.S.-Mexico border.

As of now, she reports on the vulnerabilities in elections systems across the United States, with a special focus on election security and integrity leading up to the 2020 presidential race.

Husband & Wedding Details

The CNN talent is now married to reporter husband Alan Cavanna for more than three years. The couple exchanged the wedding vows on 25 March 2017 at the ceremony held in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Alan serves as a reporter for NASCAR RACE HUB, a daily news and update program on Fox Sports 1. Besides, he is a pit reporter for the NASCAR GANDER RV & OUTDOORS TRUCK SERIES on FOX Sports. They first met while Dianne was working as a reporter based in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and Alan was working in Charlotte. The duo dated for several years and got engaged in July 2015 in Las Vegas.

  • Dianne interned at Al Khaleejiya Arabian Radio Network before her journalism career.
  • In 2018, she earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Breaking News Coverage for “CNN Worldwide Hurricane Coverage.”
  • She is fluent in six languages; Arabian, English, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese.
  • Her parents celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on 28 December 2019.
  • She transferred from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville to UNC Charlotte on a lark to be with a boyfriend. But she later split with her boyfriend.
  • In July 2019, she suffered from miscarriage with twins and remembers her experience as “one of the most physically & emotionally excruciating times of my life.”
