Max Strus is just 24 years of age and he was born on 28 March 1996. His parents John Strus and Debbie Strus raised him in Hickory Hills, Illinois.
His father John played college baseball as a pitcher at the Eastern Illinois University. Similarly, his mother, Debra, played basketball and volleyball at DePaul. She was even inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000.
Strus is the youngest child in the family and has an older brother named Marty Strus and an elder sister named Maggie Strus. His brother played basketball at Lewis University for four seasons.
Likewise, his sister Maggie played college volleyball at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She now serves as an Assistant Director of NCAA Compliance at DePaul.
Though there is no clue on his ethnicity, he is believed to have German ancestry from his family side.
High School & College
Max attended Amos Alonzo Stagg High School in Palos Hills, Illinois. Following his impressive high school basketball stats, he was named the area player of the year by The Reporter, All-Southwest Suburban Conference, and All-Area by the SouthtownStar.
Following high school, Max committed to play college football at Division II Lewis University. There, he played for two seasons and was transferred to DePaul University.
Strus played for the DePaul Blue Demons in NCAA Division I for two seasons. In June 2018, he graduated from there with a major in Business Administration.
His NBA Career: Chicago Bulls, Miami Heats
Max was named to the Boston Celtics Summer League roster after going undrafted in the 2019 NBA draft. He then signed a two-way contract with the team.
However, the Celtics waived him and he signed a two-way contract with the Chicago Bulls on 22 October 2019. He made his NBA debut for the Bulls against the Miami Heat on 22 November 2019, where he scored five points with one rebound.
Strus signed a training camp contract with the Miami Heat on 30 November 2020. Later, it was converted into a two-way contract on 19 December 2020.
