Stark was born to Swedish parents on 10 December 1999. Her father is Lasse Stark and her mother is Annika Stark.
The athlete comes from a golf family as her father Lasse is the club manager at Abbekås Golf Club. She started playing golf at the age of six and developed through the years with the support of her father.
Maja is the youngest of two children in the family and has a brother named Albin Stark. She grew up with her older brother in Skurup, a locality and the seat of Skurup Municipality, Skåne County, Sweden. Her parents and brother are often seen attending her games so far.
