The player was born on 28 February 1999 in Ljubljana, Slovenia to parents, Mirjam Poterbin and Sasa Doncic. His father of Serbian descent is a basketball coach while his Slovenian mother owns various beauty salons. Sadly, his parents separated in 2008, where his mom has custody and legal guardianship.

Luka stands at the height of 6 feet 7 inches (2.01 m) tall and weighs around 99 kg.

Career & Stats

Luka commenced his career at the age of eight for Olimpija’s under-12 and under-14 team in 2011. A few years later, the club loaned him to Real Madrid club in 2012. In September of the same year, the club offered him a lucrative contract at the age of 13. Three years later, he turned pro and won EuroLeague Rising Star Award in 2017 and 2018.

At the 2018 season end, he was one of the NBA Draft prospects. Fortunately, the Atlanta Hawks selected him in the third overall pick but traded the player to Mavericks in the first-round pick in 2019.
