Liam is the only son of Canadian parents Brian Draxl and Alison Draxl. His father Brian serves as the head tennis pro at the Newmarket Community Tennis Club. He played collegiate tennis for the University of Toledo on a tennis scholarship.
The 6-foot-1-inch was coached by his father in his youth days. Both his parents were ambitious towards their son’s career in tennis.
His Career Journey
Draxl began his youth career at Newmarket Tennis Club. He completed the double double at the Ontario Junior Closed Championships and won both the boys’ singles and doubles titles in U14 and U16.
Liam played his first junior Grand Slam at the Australian Open in 2019. However, he lost in the third round in singles and the quarterfinals in doubles.
