Riggs was born Layne Griffin Riggs on 11 June 2002 in Bahama, North Carolina, United States. He is the son of American parents, Scott Riggs and Jai Riggs.
The racer’s father Scott is also a professional stock car race driver who last competed in the No. 92 for RBR Enterprises in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. He competed in 208 Cup races from 2004 to 2013 and made 115 Xfinity and 60 NASCAR truck starts.
Layne’s father inspired him to pursue a career in racing. His father worked as the truck driver, the spotter, the crew chief, the car chief, and everything else on his racing team. As of now, his father runs a family-owned racing team named Riggs Racing.
An eldest of two children, he grew up with a younger sister named Skyler Riggs. He attended Voyager Academy High School and is now pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
