The actual cause of Selena’s death was from her friend named
Yolanda Saldívar who shot her back on 31 March 1995. Yolanda was also her former manager of Selena Etc. Boutiques. The two’s conflict arose after Yolanda was earning wrongly from Selena’s ventures. Selena even tried to reconcile their relationship and meet wanted Yolanda to meet her husband Chris Pérez for tax purpose documents. However, they later knew Yolanda had provided fake papers to which she requested Selena to come alone to get the right reports from the motel.
When they met, Yolanda took out a revolver from her carry-on and shot Selena. In meanwhile, when she was taken to a local hospital in Corpus Christi, she was declared dead. Almost 40,000 people were there to witness the final rites of the late singer at the Seaside Memorial Park in Corpus Christi.
