Jim Sciutto is an award-winning American journalist, who now serves as an anchor and Chief National Security Correspondent for CNN. He appears as a co-anchor of CNN Newsroom and also serves as a fill-in anchor for several programs on the network.

Jim Sciutto Bio, Family

James Ernest Sciutto was born on 10 March 1970 in Manhattan, New York. He is one of the four children of Ernest Sciutto and Elizabeth Sciutto. His father of Italian descent served for four years in the US Navy Force. He was a Navy active duty veteran of World War II. Meanwhile, his mother, the native of Louisville, Kentucky was a lifelong, natural writer, who was both a journalist and a poet. He has three sisters; Mary, Nellie and Patsy Sciutto.

Jim attended Regis High School in his hometown. He then went to Yale University, where he graduated with a major in Chinese history in 1992.

Career; ABC News, CNN

Sciutto began his career as the moderator and producer of a weekly public affairs talk show on PBS. He then worked as the Hong Kong correspondent for Asia Business News and covered the return of Hong Kong to China in 1997.

In 1998, he joined ABC News and started working in Chicago and later moved to Washington, D.C. to cover the Pentagon. He became ABC’s senior foreign correspondent in 2006, based primarily in London and later in Washington.

In September 2013, Jim joined CNN as the chief national security correspondent. As of now, he reports and provides analysis across the network’s programs and platforms on all aspects of U.S. national security that includes foreign policy, the military, intelligence community, and the ongoing Russia investigation.

Married Life; Wife, Children

The 50-year-old is currently married to journalist Gloria Riviera. The couple exchanged the wedding vows on 27 October 2006. The ceremony was held at the Roman Catholic Church of St. Ignatius Loyola in New York.

Gloria, 46 serves as the correspondent for ABC News based in London, New York, and Washington D.C. contributing to all ABC News platforms. She is a graduate of New York University with a master’s degree in journalism. Before Jim, she was married to William Hughes III, the then-vice president for risk arbitrage at Allen & Company, an investment firm in New York. The duo married in August 2002 and divorced later.

Jim and Gloria are now the parents of three children. They have two sons; Tristan James, aged 11 and Caden Charles, aged nine and a four-year-old daughter Sinclair Elizabeth.
