Gerald Keith McCoy Jr. was born on 25 February 1988 to parents Gerald McCoy, Sr. and Patricia McCoy. Standing at the towering height of 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 meters), he grew up in Oklahoma City.

McCoy attended Southeast High School, where he began to play for the Southeast Spartans high school football team. He was ranked as the No. 1 defensive tackle prospect in his class. Afterward, he went to the University of Oklahoma. There, he played for the Oklahoma Sooners football team from 2006 to 2009.

His NFL Career; Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Stats

Gerald was drafted by the NFL team Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the 3rd overall pick of the 2010 NFL Draft. In September 2010, he made his NFL debut against the Cleveland Browns and won the game by 17-14.

However, McCoy suffered from injury and played only 11 games in the second season. He made the remarkable stats in 2013 season with 50 Total Tackles, 9 Sacks, 8 Tackles for a Loss, 4 Pass Deflections and a Fumble Recovery.

During his career, Gerald was included to the Pro Bowl for six consecutive years from 2012 to 2017. Similarly, he was selected in the First Team All-Pro three times from 2012 to 2014. However, in May 2019, the Buccaneers released him after playing for nine seasons with them.

Initially, Gerald penned the five-year contract for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, worth $63 million in 2010.
