Charli is the daughter of Elliott Don Collier and Ponda Collier. She was born on 22 September 1999 in Baytown, Texas, and grew up with her family in Mont Belvieu, Texas.
The 6-foot-5-inch inherited her basketball passion from her parents. Her father Elliott played collegiate basketball at Eastern Montana College and had a brief stint in Honduras.
Likewise, her 6-foot mother Ponda played as a center at Southwestern University. She later coached Charli’s first team.
Charli lost her father from lung cancer on 4 April 2016. He died at the age of 53, just two months before she would compete for the USA U17 team. She regards her father as the best player she ever faced.
In addition to her parents, her younger brother Casey Collier is also an athlete. Casey plays college football for the University of Southern California.
