The actress was born on 4 October 1979 in Dublin, Ireland. She grew up in the village of Tydavnet, near Monaghan, in a family of seven. Caitriona’s dad is a retired Garda Sergeant. She went to the Dublin Institute of Technology to study drama and, in 1999, got to work as a fashion model in Paris.

At the time when she was scouted by an agent when collecting money for charity at a local shopping center, her modeling career commenced. Right from the age of 18, she worked as a model in Dublin for a few months. The Ford Models scout got notified about her presence offered her to be part of their modeling career in Paris. Some of the modeling brands were Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Moschino, and Givenchy.

In 2002, She appeared in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and on the cover of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and ELLE magazines.
