Amy Joanne Robach was born on 6 February 1963 in St. Joseph, Michigan. She spent her childhood in East Lansing, Michigan and later her family moved to St. Louis, Missouri.

Standing at the height of 5 feet 5 inches (1.65 meters), Robach attended Brookwood High School in Snellville, Georgia. Afterward, she went to the University of Georgia and graduated with high honors in broadcast journalism.
