While her Journalism career was on a roar, Amanda was told she has cancer. On 20 June 2019, the Fox News employee got the news of having cancer and that to a rare, aggressive form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It was not just a nightmare for her but also to her mother, Anne Marie Salas.

According to Alex Herrera, M.D., assistant professor in the Department of Hematology & Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation and a lymphoma specialist, Amanda cancer case was detected soon with no signs of growing. A month later, she was given stage 2 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma diagnosis and some extensive months for specialized care. Almost six months of the amalgamated feeling of fear and inspiring others, she became cancer. Her recent Instagram update is a picture of her with some empowering words.

In the IG post, she wrote,

Bittersweet post: Starting tomorrow morning, I’m reporting…from my dining room as I work from home during this pandemic. It’s the best decision while my immunity and white blood cell count continue to normalize after months of extreme chemo. At first, I didn’t want to “entertain” the idea, being that I was home for so many months on medical leave….but this is for the best. It’s a temporary solution, that is the healthiest decision. Thank you to my @foxla family for looking out for me! Last studio pic for a while, make it count!
