Finally, after a long exuberant wait, the grandest annual Hollywood event, The Oscars took center stage in Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles on 24 February 2019. Legendary band Queen and American singer Adam Lambert bloomed the occasion with their scintillating performances.

Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science (AMPAS) presented the winners’ list in 24 categories as this year’s Oscars missed its main host for the first time in over three decades.

Peter Farrelly-directed biography/drama Green Book stole the show with the Best Picture win. Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali-starred movie added two other Oscars to its name under Supporting Actor and Original Screenplay categories.

Besides, Mexican director Alfonso Cuaron bagged his second Oscar in directing (fourth overall) for his American and Mexican drama film Roma. Alfonso previously won the prestigious award for 2013 sci-fi thriller Gravity.

The 91st Academy Awards saw the rise of 37-year-old Rami Malek who bagged his first-ever Oscar from his only nomination. His portrayal of Freddie Mercury in Queen’s biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody was enough to scalp the top prize.
