Nathaniel was born to American parents on 12 August 1993. His father is James Lammons and his mother is Debra Lammons.
James was his first tennis coach. He played racquetball and when he would go play after work, Nathaniel would go as well and just play on the court next to him. His father went to all tournaments through his juniors and into college.
The player has a 13 years senior brother named Noah and a 10 years senior sister, Leah Lammons. He grew up with his parents and siblings in Arlington, Texas.
Lammons completed his high school at the Academy of Science & Technology of The Woodlands College Park High School. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Methodist University. There, he also obtained a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering in 2016.

From 2012 to 2015, he played collegiate tennis at Southern Methodist University. Afterward, he turned professional in 2016. He won four doubles titles in 2019 and won his first two career ATP Tour doubles titles in 2022.
As of now, Lammons has won seven ATP doubles titles. Out of seven, he won six titles with his American partner Jackson Withrow. Moreover, he has won 16 ATP Challenger Tour titles and nine ITF Futures Tour titles.
