Born on 25 March 1974, the 45-years-of-age actress is also known by her birth name, Lark Holloway. She hails from Nashville, Tennessee, U.S., and is the only child of her parents, Wayne Holloway and Tricia Holloway. Lark later adopted Voorhies as a stage name.

Lark’s mother, Tricia, named her such after the character in the 1972 film Cool Breeze, played by American actress Margaret Avery. When she was two years old, her family moved to Pasadena, California. Immediately, her mother took her to a talent agent as she was a natural-born ham.
