The athlete was raised by his parents in Marseille, France. His mother is French and his father is Ivorian and is eligible to play for both France and Ivory Coast.

On 18 May 2019, he made his debut for the club in a 3–0 Ligue 1 win against Nice. After spending five years with the club, he joined the Premier League side Leicester City in 2020.
