The 21-years-of-age player was born as Tuanigamanuolepola Tagovailoa on 2 March 1998 in Ewa Beach, Hawaii. He is the oldest among the four children of his parents, Galu Tagovailoa and Diane Tagovailoa. Among his siblings, his younger brother, Taulia Tagovailoa also plays as a quarterback for Thompson High School in Alabaster.

About 6 feet and one inch (1.85 m) tall in height, Tua attended Saint Louis School in Honolulu where he commenced his football career. Upon graduation from high school, he decided to go to the University of Alabama and take forward his amateur football career.

Career Stats

During his high school career, Tua performed valiantly with 8,158 passing yards, 1,727 rushing yard and 27 scores as a junior. Likewise, his senior career saw him record 3932 yards, 43 touchdowns and he was also a lead team player during the 2016 HHSAA District 1 State Championship while at Saint Louis.

Tua made his first career start as a college player with the Alabama Crimson Tide on 1 September 2018. He recorded 227 passing yards and two touchdowns in the 51-16 victory over Louisville in the season’s opening game. Eventually, Tua recorded an excellent 2019 season with 27 touchdowns, 2,011 passing yards and 45 rushing yards from six starts.
