American football quarterback Tate Martell plays for the Miami Hurricanes. The former Ohio State star is the 2019 Rose Bowl Champion and 2× Big Ten Champion in 2017 and 2018.

The player was born as Tathan “Tate” Martell on 26 January 1998 in Poway, California to parents, Al and Tafi Martell. His other family includes his sister, Rylee Michelle Martell. He went to Poway High School and then Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, Nevada. However, he chose Desert Pines High School in Las Vegas to complete his graduation. 

At the age of 14, he allied with the University of Washington. Likewise, in 2015, he went to Texas A&M University and a year later to Ohio State University. He stands at the height of 5 feet 11 inches (1.80 m) tall and weighs around 95 kg.

Career & Stats

The 21-year-old started his freshman season at Ohio State in 2017. A year later, he battled for the starting role in spring camp in 2018 and made three passes for 33 yards on four attempts. He played in six games for the Buckeyes including 269 passing yards, one passing touchdown, 128 rushing yards, and two rushing touchdowns in 2018.

Tate took his social media to announce his transfer to University of Miami team, Miami Hurricanes on 15 January 2019. Almost two months later, he got the fortune to play for the team, after NCAA granted him a waiver on 19 March 2019.
