Tameka Dianne Pope was born on 14 July 1975 in College Park, Georgia to parents Charles Pope and Dianne Cottle-Pope. Her father is African American and her mother is a European American.

She has two siblings; a brother named Redd Cottle Pope and a sister named Michelle Cottle Pope. Cottle with a height of 4 feet 11 inches (1.5 meters) pursued her education at Tri-Cities Performing Arts High School.
